How to Drink More Water

Often, when we think we are hungry, in actual fact we are thirsty.  It is very important to drink lots of water, in order to hydrate the body.  In the detox maintenance lifestyle, we are working towards ridding our bodies of toxins through eating "clean" food, which need to be flushed out of our bodies by drinking as much water as possible.
On researching the subject of "how much" should we drink, I have come across many conflicting opinions.  Some experts state that we should drink one litre of water for every 40lbs or 18k of body weight.  Others warn of the dangers of drinking too much.   

I believe that we should drink two litres (64fl oz or 8 cups) of water a day, and an extra glass of water for every 15 minutes of hard exercise. 
How to incorporate the water drinking habit into your daily life.  The following guide is easy to remember and really easy to do. 
Drink 2 glasses of water when you get up in the morning.  Try adding the juice of a lemon to for added alkaline benefits.  Drinking first thing in the morning helps wake up your organs after their night's rest.
Drink 1 glass of water with your breakfast 
Drink 1 glass of water in mid-morning 
Drink 1 glass of water 20 minutes before eating lunch 
Drink 1 glass of water mid-afternoon 
Drink 1 glass of water 20 minutes before eating supper 
Drink 1 glass of water before going to bed 

To check whether you have drunk enough water during the day, you could fill a jug with 2 litres of water at the beginning of the day, and measure it out during the course of the day. 
There are other ways to add more liquid to your daily intake.  You could try starting lunch or supper with soup; make a habit of drinking herbal tea; make it delicious and appetizing by adding fruit and herbs to a jug of water and keep it in the fridge (click here for link); make cold tea eg. hibiscus, and keep it in the fridge (click here for link); every time you think you are hungry, ask yourself whether you are really hungry or actually thirsty. 
Drinking a glass of water 20 minutes before a meal fills you up, and helps you to eat less, which is good for portion control and weight loss.  Try to avoid dehydrating drinks like coffee and alcohol, and sweetened soft drinks and sodas.
